Per the analysis, Walmart has chosen to end its Express program, which involved a series of tiny stores to serve as an alternative to drugstores and dollar-stores. Along with the Walmart Express closures, the company is shuttering 23 Neighborhood Markets, 12 Supercenters, seven stores in Puerto Rico, six discount centers and four Sam’s Clubs. The company reports it will focus on strengthening Supercenters, optimizing Neighborhood Markets, growing the e-commerce business and expanding Pickup services for customers.
